Homes for Texas Heroes

I'm a new paragraph block.Home for Texas Heroes, a program of the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC), offers two types of assistance to help you purchase a home.

Fixed Rate Loans with Down Payment Assistance

  • Several rate, loan, and DPA options available
  • DPA can be up to 5% of the loan amount

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum credit score of 620
  • Max income limit depends on purchase location
  • Complete TSAHC's home buyer educational course
  • Available to first time and repeat home buyers

Professions the qualify:

  • Public School Teachers
  • Corrections Officers
  • EMS Personnel
  • Fire Fighters
  • Veterans
  • Active Military
  • Police Officers
  • School Librarians
  • School Councelors
  • School Nurses

If your profession is not eligible for the Homes for Heroes Texas program, you may still qualify for the Home Sweet Texas Program which also offers home buying assistance.

Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC):

  • A special tax credit that reduces your federl income tax every year
  • For first time home buyers (those who have not owned a home in 3 years)
  • FREE for Texas Heroes also using TSAHC's DPA (a $500 savings)
